Kanjian

Kanjian

Launched in 2014 at the Triennale, Milan, the Kanjian brand was established to fulfill three key objectives: empowering minority communities, reinvigorating the global markets appetite for traditional Chinese and Mongolian craftsmanship and honouring heritage skills. The brand has enlisted international designers, including Tom Dixon, Neri & Hu, Michael Young and Chi Wing Lo to re-contextualise techniques and fabrications for a modern audience.

The Kanjian project allowed us to unite the global design community with traditional Chinese craftsman and time-honoured techniques in an endeavour to reinvigorate both a passion for hand craftsmanship and the economy’s of regional communities. Utilising our curatorial expertise and global design network our goal was to bring visibility and new relevance to long established skills and a commercial life back to fading industries.
